Arlanda to Uppsala, door to door in half an hour.

Arlanda sits almost exactly midway between Stockholm and Uppsala, which makes this the shortest, cleanest airport run in the region — motorway nearly the whole way, no congestion charge in this direction, and your driver waiting in the arrivals hall with your name on a board. Priced by the kilometre from 695 SEK per vehicle, and fixed before you book.

Quick answer

A private transfer from Arlanda (ARN) to Uppsala starts from 695 SEK in an Economy sedan and from 895 SEK in a Standard Mercedes E-Class — per vehicle, not per person, and the same both ways. Those are starting-from prices: the fare is built from a base fare plus a per-kilometre rate for the distance actually driven, with a minimum fare on short runs, and it is fixed before you book. The drive is 40 km north on the E4 and takes 25 to 35 minutes to any central address. Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board and tracks your flight, so a delay costs you nothing. The train is genuinely cheaper for one or two people travelling light: a UL ticket is only 40 SEK, but the Arlanda station passage fee adds 157 SEK on top, so the real figure is about 197 SEK per adult — which means four adults pay more by train than by car.

Starting-from prices in SEK, per vehicle, VAT included, along with the Arlanda access charge, parking, waiting time and luggage handling. They assume a standard central Uppsala address; an outlying one is priced on the same per-kilometre rate. A night surcharge may apply between 23:00 and 05:00 and is always shown before you confirm. Child seats and pets in a carrier are paid add-ons. Extra stops inside Uppsala are quoted at booking rather than added afterwards.

How the final price is worked out

Every figure on this site is a starting-from price. The fare itself is built from a base fare plus a per-kilometre rate for the distance actually driven, with a minimum fare that applies to short runs. We calculate it and lock it before you book — there is no meter, no surge and nothing recalculated afterwards.

All figures in SEK, per vehicle, VAT included. Worked example: an Economy sedan on this 40 km route is 255 SEK base + 11 SEK × 40 km = 695 SEK. Below roughly 20 km (12 miles) the minimum fare applies instead, which is what a short hop such as Arlanda to Knivsta or Sigtuna costs. Above that the rate simply continues, so a long run to Västerås or Enköping is priced by the same arithmetic rather than by negotiation.

1

Always a “from” price

Published prices are the starting point for a standard central address. Your own address, the vehicle class and any extra stops decide the final figure.

2

Distance, not the clock

The rate runs on kilometres driven door to door, not on minutes. Traffic, a delayed flight or a slow baggage belt cannot move the number.

3

A floor, not a surprise

Short journeys fall to the minimum fare for the class rather than dropping below what it costs to send a licensed car and driver.

4

Fixed before you book

You see the exact total, in writing, before you confirm. Tolls, the Arlanda access charge, parking, waiting time and luggage handling are already inside it.

The same rate card runs every route on this site, which is why Arlanda to Uppsala and Arlanda to Stockholm cost the same: both are about 40 km. If a quote ever differs from the arithmetic above, it is because of a stated extra — a night surcharge, an added stop, a child seat — and it will be itemised before you confirm. Compare the Stockholm route
02 — The honest comparison

Four ways north. Here is the maths.

Public transport fares checked against UL's published tariff. The number that surprises people is the Arlanda station passage fee, which is charged on top of the ticket.

How you travel Two adultstotal, one way Four adultstotal, one way Time What actually happens

Taxi from the rankauthorised operators 675–900675–90025–35 min Fine if you check the yellow price sticker first. Nobody is tracking your flight and the car is whatever is at the front of the queue.

Fares in SEK, adult one-way. The train figure is UL's 40 SEK single ticket plus the 157 SEK Arlanda passage fee, which is required to pass through the barriers at Arlanda C and catches out almost every first-time visitor. Swedavia also adds a 30 SEK pickup fee to taxis leaving the rank. The crossover point is four adults: beyond that the car is simply cheaper, and that is before anyone carries a suitcase across Uppsala Centralstation.

03 — When to book us, when not to

Three things decide it: bags, hour, address.

The Uppsala run is short and easy, so we are not going to pretend the train is a trap. It is excellent. It just stops being the right answer under specific, predictable conditions.

The passage fee

The 157 SEK nobody mentions

A UL single ticket costs 40 SEK, which is why people arrive expecting a cheap hop. Passing the barriers at Arlanda C costs a further 157 SEK per adult on top, so a family of four is already near 800 SEK — more than our car — with the walk from Uppsala Centralstation still ahead of them.

The night gap

Late arrivals lose their options

Trains between Arlanda and Uppsala run through the day and evening, not continuously through the night, and the 801 bus thins out badly in the small hours. A flight landing at 23:40 that then loses forty minutes at baggage reclaim is exactly the arrival where a pre-booked car stops being a luxury.

The last mile

Uppsala C is not your address

The train serves one point in Uppsala. If you are heading for Flogsta, Ultuna, Sunnersta, Gamla Uppsala or a lab out at Fyrislund, you finish the journey by taxi or bus anyway — so the honest comparison is not 197 SEK against 695, it is 197 plus that last leg, twice over for a couple.

1

We watch the flight

Dispatch tracks your flight number from the moment you book. Land early, land four hours late — the pickup moves with the aircraft and you tell us nothing.

2

Free waiting runs

60 minutes from touchdown on Schengen arrivals, 90 minutes on intercontinental. That covers passport control and the belt without a clock running against you.

3

Name board in arrivals

Your driver stands inside the hall, not in a car park. You get their name, photo and mobile number by message before you land.

4

Straight onto the E4

Bags loaded, motorway north, and central Uppsala in 25 to 35 minutes. No congestion charge in this direction and no toll to argue about later.

Worth saying plainly

One person, a cabin bag, a hotel near Uppsala C — take the train

At 197 SEK against 695, for an 18-minute ride to a station that is a short walk from most of the city centre, we would take it ourselves. Book us instead when the arithmetic or the circumstances change: three or more travellers, checked luggage, children or a pushchair, a landing after 22:00, an address outside the centre, a first visit to Sweden in January darkness, or a company that would rather pay 695 SEK than have a visiting researcher work out the passage fee on their own.

04 — At the airport

Met at the right terminal.

Arlanda has three working terminals and Terminal 2 is a separate building. Give us the airline at booking and the driver will be standing in the correct hall.

T5

Terminal 5

SAS, Star Alliance and most intercontinental arrivals. The largest arrivals hall at Arlanda, and where the great majority of Uppsala-bound guests come through.

T2

Terminal 2

oneworld, SkyTeam and several low-cost international carriers. A separate building south of the main complex — a driver waiting at Terminal 5 by mistake costs you twenty real minutes.

T4

Terminal 4

Domestic arrivals from Gothenburg, Malmö, Luleå and the regional network. Linked to Terminal 5 on foot through SkyCity in five to seven minutes. Terminal 3 is closed.

✓

What we do

Name board inside the hall, luggage carried to the car, and a driver who already knows whether you are going to a hotel, a hospital entrance or a lab. Nothing to arrange once you land.

Connecting from a domestic flight, or arriving on a long-haul with a three-hour immigration queue behind it? Tell us at booking and we set the waiting allowance to match the arrival rather than the schedule. Read the airport guide
05 — Where we set you down

The exact address, not the station.

Same fixed price across Uppsala kommun. Times shown are terminal to door in normal conditions — add five to ten minutes in snow or during Uppsala's own afternoon peak.

Going on to Sigtuna, Enköping, Västerås or a conference hotel out in the Mälardalen? The same fixed-price logic applies and the quote comes back the same day. All routes and prices
06 — University, SLU and Akademiska

A city that fills up on the same three weekends.

Term start, graduation and the big conferences put thousands of arrivals through Arlanda inside a few days. Those are the days when booking ahead stops being optional.

01

Arriving students

Two suitcases, a first winter, and a corridor room in Flogsta, Rackarberget or Kantorsgatan that no train goes near. We collect at the terminal, load everything, and take you to the housing office or the door — which on the first day of an autumn term, with the buses full, is worth more than the price difference. Splitting one van between four arrivals works out cheaper per head than the train.

Book an arrival →
02

Academic visitors

Guest lecturers, examiners, opponents at a public defence and conference speakers, delivered to the actual building rather than the campus in general — English Park, Blåsenhus, Ångström, the BMC or SLU out at Ultuna. Departments can book on an invoice and put a reference code on it, so nobody claims a taxi receipt back afterwards.

Invoiced bookings →
03

Akademiska sjukhuset

The hospital is a large site with numbered entrances, and the right one matters when someone is travelling for treatment or arriving to visit family. Give us the ingång at booking. For patients travelling with equipment or limited mobility, say so and we send the vehicle that suits rather than the one that is next in line.

07 — Life science and business travel

Uppsala runs on visiting expertise.

Uppsala Business Park at Fyrislund, the science park addresses and the cluster of life-science employers around them bring a steady stream of people in from Arlanda: auditors, regulators, collaborators, candidates and the occasional board. It is the same 30-minute drive every time, which makes it the easiest thing in a visit to get consistently right.

Invoiced, not expensed

Monthly invoicing with cost centres and reference codes on each line, so travel reconciles without anyone photographing a receipt at a taxi rank.

Pre-agreed site rates

Fixed rates held for your regular addresses — Fyrislund, Boländerna, the science park, the central hotels — so the number in the quote is the number on the invoice.

Candidate and visitor arrivals

A named driver meeting a candidate or a visiting scientist in the arrivals hall is a small thing that does a lot of work on a first impression. We brief the driver on who they are meeting.

Teams and convoys

Six in a V-Class, fourteen in a Sprinter, and matched vehicles moving together above that — the usual answer for a delegation or a conference cohort landing on one flight.

08 — Uppsala questions

Arlanda to Uppsala, answered.

Flying out instead? The margins and pickup times are on the departure page. Terminal practicalities are in the airport guide.

How long does the drive from Arlanda to Uppsala take?
25 to 35 minutes for the 40 km north on the E4, terminal to door. It is one of the easiest airport runs in Sweden: motorway almost the whole way, and the congestion charge zone is behind you rather than ahead. Allow 40 to 45 minutes in heavy snow, during roadworks, or into Uppsala's own afternoon peak around Kungsgatan. Arlanda sits close to the midpoint between Stockholm and Uppsala, which is why the two runs are a similar distance but this one is usually the quicker.
How much is a transfer from Arlanda to Uppsala?
From 695 SEK per vehicle in an Economy sedan and from 895 SEK in a Standard Mercedes E-Class, both carrying up to three guests with luggage. A six-seat Mercedes V-Class starts at 1 295 SEK and a fourteen-seat Sprinter at 1 995 SEK. These are starting-from prices. The fare is calculated as a base fare plus a per-kilometre rate — for Economy, 255 SEK plus 11 SEK per km, which is how 40 km comes to 695 SEK — subject to a 445 SEK minimum fare on short runs. It is per car rather than per head, identical in both directions, and includes the Arlanda access charge, parking, waiting time and luggage handling. A night surcharge may apply between 23:00 and 05:00 and is shown before you confirm.
Is the train cheaper than a private transfer?
For one or two people travelling light, yes — clearly, and we will say so. The catch is that the headline fare is not the fare. A UL single ticket is 40 SEK, but the Arlanda station passage fee adds 157 SEK per adult, so the real cost is about 197 SEK each for the 18-minute ride to Uppsala Centralstation. Two adults pay roughly 394 SEK and four pay 788 SEK, which is more than our 695 SEK car — and the train still leaves you at the station rather than your address. The 801 bus at 120 SEK stays the cheapest option throughout, at about 50 minutes.
Where exactly does the driver meet me?
Inside the arrivals hall of your terminal, holding a board with your name — not at a rank and not in a car park. Terminal 5 for SAS, Star Alliance and most long-haul, Terminal 2 for oneworld, SkyTeam and several low-cost carriers, Terminal 4 for domestic. Terminal 3 is closed. You get your driver's name, photo and mobile number by message before you land, so if the hall is busy you can find each other in a few seconds.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Nothing that costs you money. We track the flight number rather than the clock, so the pickup moves with the aircraft whether you are twenty minutes late or four hours late. Free waiting is 60 minutes from touchdown on Schengen arrivals and 90 minutes on intercontinental, which covers passport control and the baggage belt comfortably. There is no surge pricing and no rebooking fee for a delay. If the flight is cancelled outright, message us and we cancel or move the booking.
Can you collect at two or three in the morning?
Yes, every night of the year, and this is where the car earns its price on this route more than any other. Trains between Arlanda and Uppsala run through the day and evening rather than continuously overnight, and the 801 bus thins out badly in the small hours — so a flight landing at 23:40 that loses forty minutes at reclaim can leave you with very little. A night surcharge may apply between 23:00 and 05:00, shown before you confirm. No surge pricing.
Do you drive to the university, SLU and Akademiska sjukhuset?
Yes, and to the specific building rather than the campus in general — English Park, Blåsenhus, Ångström and the BMC, SLU at Ultuna, student housing at Flogsta, Rackarberget and Kantorsgatan, and the correct ingång at Akademiska sjukhuset. The hospital in particular is a large site with numbered entrances and the right one saves a long walk, so give it to us at booking. If someone is travelling with medical equipment or limited mobility, tell us and we send a suitable vehicle.
Do you offer corporate accounts for Uppsala companies?
Yes. Monthly invoicing with cost-centre and reference-code tagging on every line, a named account contact, priority allocation on repeat routes, and pre-agreed rates for the addresses you use most — Uppsala Business Park at Fyrislund, Boländerna, the science park and the central hotels. Visiting scientists, auditors and candidate interviews are the three bookings we handle most often for Uppsala employers, and a driver briefed on who they are meeting makes a better first impression than a taxi app.
Can you take a group, a research team or a whole delegation?
Up to six guests in a Mercedes V-Class and up to fourteen in a Sprinter minibus, both as a single booking and a single price. Above fourteen we run a convoy of matched vehicles that arrive and depart together, which is how conference cohorts and term-start arrivals are usually handled. Send the flight number and the headcount and we will price it as one job — for four or more people it is normally cheaper than the same group buying train tickets with the passage fee.
How far ahead should I book?
Twenty-four hours guarantees the vehicle class you want. Uppsala has predictable pressure points — term start in late August, graduation weeks, and the larger life-science and academic conferences — where the city fills and so do we, so book further ahead for those. Same-day requests are taken whenever a car is free; inside a few hours, call dispatch rather than booking online and we will tell you straight away what is available.
Ready when you are

Send the flight number. We will do the rest.

Give us your arrival and the Uppsala address and we reply with the price, the vehicle and the driver — flight tracked, waiting time included, nothing to arrange once you land.
